MSB8036: Windows SDK version not found

error MSB8036: The Windows SDK version 10.0.17763.0 was not found.

The project names a Windows SDK version that is not installed.

Causes and fixes

  1. The project names an old SDK. Set General > Windows SDK Version to 10.0 (latest installed version), or choose Retarget solution.
  2. The project needs that exact SDK. Install it from the Visual Studio Installer, under Individual components.
